About this ebook

Sarah Kessler thought her career had already paid the price for what she found beneath Sulawesi. Then a message arrives from a stranger on the other side of the world, describing a formation she never told anyone outside her original team about.

What follows is a race across three continents, as a small, chronically underfunded coalition of researchers tries to prove that the Site 14 anomaly isn't an isolated event before commercial interests and institutional caution bury the evidence — or worse, act on it without understanding what they're touching. As the confirmed sites multiply and the stakes shift from one mine's safety to a question no single government owns, Sarah has to build the very framework she once needed and never had.

VEIN expands THE DEEP VEIN from one geologist's ordeal into a global investigation — and ends in a Geneva hearing room, with the first real rules for handling a discovery too large for any one institution to hold alone.

VEIN takes the mystery from one remote site and suddenly makes it a global problem. I really enjoyed watching the investigation expand across continents while the characters struggled to keep up with what they were discovering. The scale of the story is much bigger than the first book, but it still feels grounded.

About the author

Andi Anriansyah is a senior geologist and technical professional with more than seventeen years of experience across oil and gas, mining, and large-scale infrastructure projects in Indonesia. His career has taken him through field operations, drilling and development support, geological and geotechnical work, technical reporting, multidisciplinary coordination, and operational risk management.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Geological Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and has worked across a range of field-based environments where technical judgment, incomplete data, operational pressure, and safety considerations often intersect.

His early exposure to nickel exploration, combined with years of experience supporting drilling, field development, construction, and production operations, informs the technical realism of his fiction. He writes about the people who work beneath the surface—geologists, engineers, field crews, and decision-makers—and the difficult choices that emerge when what the data says does not fit what people expect to find.

Outside his technical work, Andi is a hard science fiction enthusiast who writes by drawing on his real experience in subsurface risk assessment and decision-making under uncertainty to give his stories a scientific foundation. He is the author of OREBODY and VEIN in The Deep Vein series, as well as the The Hidden Layer and The Abyss series.
