Thomas Boyd (1898-1935) was an American novelist and former U.S. Marine who served in France during the First World War. His firsthand combat experience informed his writing and lent authenticity to Through the Wheat, his most significant work. Boyd was among the early generation of American authors who depicted the war with psychological realism rather than patriotic idealization. Though his career was brief, his novel remains an important document of American wartime literature.
