About this ebook

Four weeks to secure an English husband. One infuriating Scottish duke determined to ruin her plans.

Lady Amelia refuses to let her future be decided for her. After her father's death, her American uncle expects her to leave England and return with him across the Atlantic. But Amelia has no intention of abandoning the only home she's ever known. With just four weeks to escape his plans, she devises a scandalous solution. She'll compromise a suitable English lord and secure a marriage before her uncle can whisk her away.

Unfortunately, the Duke of Goldstone keeps getting in the way.

Arrogant, devilishly handsome, and entirely too Scottish, Goldstone has an infuriating habit of appearing just when Amelia's schemes are about to succeed. Every ruined opportunity leads to another heated argument, and every argument leaves her more dangerously aware of the man she's determined to despise.

Goldstone is everything Amelia doesn't want in a husband. He's stubborn, maddeningly confident, and seems to take particular pleasure in thwarting her plans. Yet beneath their constant sparring lies an attraction neither can ignore, and Amelia soon discovers that the gentleman causing her the most trouble may be the only one capable of stealing her heart.

With her deadline approaching and her carefully laid plans unraveling, Amelia faces an impossible choice. She can continue her desperate search for a suitable husband, or risk her future on the one man she never intended to love.

A scandalous scheme, a battle of wills, and a Scottish duke who might just prove that love is worth ruining every plan.

Scandalous Endeavors is the first book in the Ladies and Scoundrels series by USA Today bestselling author Amanda Mariel. This steamy Victorian historical romance delivers enemies-to-lovers tension, witty banter, an independent heroine, and a happily ever after worth fighting for.

This was fun short read! Amelia is in urgent need of a husband, but her plans to compromise her chosen candidate keep getting interrupted by Lord Goldstone. Their back-and-forth is full of witty banter. I fell for the hero right from the start—he’s everything you want in a romantic lead: strong, dependable, & endlessly patient with Amelia. The heroine, on the other hand, needs to grow up a little and move past her tantrums, but that journey is part of the fun. There are some spicy scenes

This first book in the Ladies and Scoundrels series was an entertaining love story that included delightful characters who kept me wondering what plot or scheme may occur next. It added a bit of adventure, drama, and suspense. It was also filled with much romance with a nice splash of steam. I enjoyed how happily it ended! I highly recommend reading!

“Scandalous Endeavors” weaves a delightful tale of enemies turned lovers against the backdrop of historical England. Amanda Mariel’s charming Victorian era romance captivates readers with engaging characters and a fairytale happily-ever-after. The chemistry between Lady Amelia and Lord Goldstone sizzles, and their banter adds a delightful layer to the story. This book is a must-read. A solid 5 stars from me!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a revie.

About the author

Amanda Mariel is a USA Today bestselling author of historical romance featuring women who refuse to behave and the men who find themselves falling hopelessly in love with them anyway. She holds master's degrees in Education and Liberal Arts, with majors in history and literature, which makes her equally enthusiastic about debating corset construction, the Napoleonic Wars, and the finer points of a truly scandalous courtship. She has been known to offer opinions on all three, whether anyone asks or not.

When she isn't sending fictional couples into compromising situations or on ill-advised adventures across the English countryside, Amanda can be found at home, where she is thoroughly outnumbered. Her young adult children have yet to move out and appear suspiciously content with the arrangement. Three cats graciously tolerate her presence, while her two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Blaze and Ember, adore her unconditionally and remain firmly convinced that every piece of furniture in the house belongs to them.
