About this ebook

From master storyteller Stephen King comes a thrilling new novel with intertwining storylines - one about a killer on a diabolical revenge mission, and another about a vigilante targeting a feminist celebrity speaker - featuring the beloved Holly Gibney and a dynamic new cast of characters.

After the Buckeye City Police Department receives a disturbing letter from a person who is threatening to kill 'thirteen innocents and one guilty' in an act of retribution, Detective Izzy Jaynes turns to her friend Holly Gibney of the Finders Keepers Agency for help.

Meanwhile, outspoken activist Kate McKay is embarking on a lecture tour. But someone has started disrupting her events, and Holly is hired to be Kate's bodyguard.

In a feat of storytelling only Stephen King could pull off, these twinned narratives converge in a chilling and spectacular conclusion.

This is the first Stephen King novel that is so dire, that I gave up on it after 24%. This is after thoroughly enjoying the previous " Holly ", which was a classic Stephen King, and a lifetime of reading his otherwise brilliant work. I simply don't know what has gone wrong here. The twin storyline is simply confusing, as is the disjointed dialogue etc. There isn't a sense that this is one of his novels at all. It's always disappointing to have invested hard earned money and valuable time in something as poor as this, but sometimes it's better to cut and run and start something hopefully more enjoyable. I hope this isn't the start of his decline into absolute mediocrity. Very disappointing indeed.

This has to be the worst of all his books, it didnt even seem like his style of writing, it was very hard going. I had no empathy with any of the characters and found some of the plot ridiculous. I hope he now puts Holly to bed and has got his covid paranoia out of his system.

I found this one hard to get through and the climax a bit convoluted. It did keep me guessing but also made me hurry at the end.
