About this ebook

Complete and unabridged. Thirty-two short pieces in which the moon, looking in at a poor artist's window, tells what she saw the night before in India, Sweden, Pompeii, a Paris theatre and a graveyard. Andersen wrote them as sketches rather than tales, and they are the least known and most concentrated of his work. Each is a page long and several are among the best things he did. Its 65 original illustrations have been carefully restored and coloured for this edition.
