Its always refreshing to come across a novelist who is new to me. R. Jackson Lawrence has proved to be a very entertaining and convincing writer , in a way he reminds me of Philip Jose Farmer. Sets a good scene , peopled by convincing characters, but best of all very hard to put down and go to bed. The sign of a ripping yarn by a good writer.

Interestingly different plot for a sci-fi book. Starts out as a straight sci-fi then turns into a steam-punk adventure then a bit of military sci-fi before becoming a band-of-heroes who will hopefully save the world -- but leaving us with the mystery of which world? or is it when? Listed as juvenile/teen fiction but truly enjoyable for adults, too.
