About this ebook

Complete and unabridged, with 56 full-page plates by Thomas Moran, Jonas Lie and George Bellows. A shop girl decides to go on the stage and finds out what the theater costs a woman with no money behind her. Vance wrote thrillers for a living and this one soberly; the backstage economics are exact. This edition adds a gallery of 56 plates of painting, among them works by Everett Shinn, John Sloan and George Bellows, alongside two restored and coloured illustrations.
