About this ebook

A strong foundation in general pharmacy requires an understanding of both scientific principles and their practical application. Developed for students beginning the B. Pharm. programme, this textbook follows the newly introduced syllabus prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines.

Beginning with the history and development of pharmacy, the book explores pharmacopoeias, prescriptions, professional ethics and good dispensing practices. It then develops essential knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, posology, routes of administration, dosage forms, active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients. Solid, liquid and semisolid dosage forms are discussed with particular attention to their formulation, preparation, evaluation, packaging and storage. Practical experiments, calculation exercises, practice questions, a glossary and appendices further support learning and skill development.

Combining theoretical foundations with laboratory and industry-oriented perspectives, the book serves as a structured learning and reference resource for B. Pharm. students, GPAT aspirants and practising pharmacists.
