About this ebook

Complete and unabridged, with 58 full-page plates by Odilon Redon, Francisco Goya and Arnold Böcklin. A physician who treats cases no ordinary doctor will touch - a humorist whom hashish has opened to a presence in his house, a French town whose people are not what they seem, a fire elemental in a country house. Silence was not the first psychic detective, but nobody has done the type better since. This edition includes a gallery of 58 plates of painting bound with the book, with works by Odilon Redon, Francisco Goya, Arnold Böcklin and Vincent van Gogh, dating from 1790 to 1918.
