About this ebook

Complete and unabridged, with 58 full-page plates by William Orpen, Robert Bevan and Philip de László. A woman with money of her own decides she will not marry on the usual terms, and the man who wants her has to find out what the other terms are. Deeping wrote it before the war made him famous and the argument is franker than his later books. This edition adds a gallery of 58 plates bound with the text, with paintings by Philip Wilson Steer, Philip de László, Samuel Melton Fisher and Charles Haslewood Shannon.
