この電子書籍について

The Picture of Dorian Gray is Oscar Wilde’s only novel and one of the most influential works of late nineteenth-century literature. First published in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine in 1890 and later revised for book publication in 1891, the novel explores beauty, vanity, moral corruption, art, desire, and the dangerous pursuit of eternal youth.

The story follows Dorian Gray, a young man of extraordinary beauty whose portrait becomes the hidden record of his moral decay. While Dorian remains outwardly youthful and untouched by time, the image in the portrait bears the marks of his choices, sins, and spiritual corruption. Through this haunting premise, Wilde examines the relationship between appearance and reality, art and life, pleasure and conscience.

Blending Gothic atmosphere with philosophical reflection and sharp social criticism, The Picture of Dorian Gray remains a landmark of classic literature. This ebook+ edition is based on the public domain original and has been prepared for modern digital reading in a clean and accessible format.

Oscar Wilde was an Irish writer, poet, playwright, and one of the most distinctive literary figures of the late nineteenth century. Born in Dublin in 1854, Wilde became known for his wit, elegance, aesthetic philosophy, and brilliant command of language. He studied at Trinity College Dublin and later at Oxford, where he developed many of the artistic and intellectual ideas that shaped his career.

Wilde achieved fame through his essays, stories, plays, and his only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. His major works include The Happy Prince and Other Tales, Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime, A Woman of No Importance, An Ideal Husband, and The Importance of Being Earnest. His writing is marked by paradox, irony, social criticism, beauty, moral ambiguity, and a sharp awareness of the tension between appearance and reality.

The Picture of Dorian Gray, first published in 1890 and revised in 1891, remains one of Wilde’s most important works.
