The text covers the history and scope of pharmacy, professional organizations, pharmacopoeias, prescriptions, pharmaceutical calculations, posology, active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, and major dosage forms. Dedicated units examine powders, capsules, monophasic and biphasic liquids, suspensions, emulsions, semisolids, suppositories, and pessaries, with emphasis on formulation, preparation, packaging, storage, and quality control.
A distinctive theory-cum-practical approach connects scientific concepts with their application. Laboratory experiments are presented through systematic, step-by-step procedures to support accurate preparation and confident performance. Tables, flowcharts, illustrations, solved examples, practical exercises, review questions, and unit-wise multiple-choice questions reinforce understanding and facilitate self-assessment.
Designed primarily for B.Pharm and Pharm.D students, the book also supports teachers and pharmacy professionals seeking a reliable foundational reference. Its student-centred presentation promotes conceptual clarity, practical competence, professional ethics, patient safety, rational medicine use, and readiness for university examinations and competitive assessments, including GPAT, NIPER, and pharmacist recruitment examinations, while encouraging independent learning and responsible professional decision-making throughout.
