About this ebook

Complete and unabridged, with 49 full-page plates by Fitz Henry Lane, Childe Hassam and Antonio Jacobsen. An Indiana heiress comes home from five years in Europe to a miserly father, and to a letter in which her dying mother begged the family to protect her from him. Nicholson was a Hoosier novelist who wrote about the American middle west without either apology or nostalgia. This edition binds 49 plates after Munch, Bellows, Lawson and Hassam, alongside seven restored and coloured illustrations.
