Being a carer for a docile old woman during the day, and fawning over hot book boyfriends in the night, Sloane’s life is uneventful, except for Joshua MacLeod, her very sexy, and very fictional boyfriend. She chats with him on messenger like playing solo chess and tells the world he’s her long-distance long-time man.
Only when the woman she cared for is brutally murdered, and Sloane their only witness, the police are eager to keep Sloane safe. And who is entrusted as her bodyguard? A very handsome, charming, and real Detective Sergeant Joshua MacLeod. Like what the hell???
The last thing a divorced man needs is a curvaceous pink-haired beauty tumbling into his arms and calling him her boyfriend. But the woman is a mystery DS Joshua MacLeod can’t keep away from.
Why is she pretending to have a fictional boyfriend? What is Sloane hiding behind those big doe eyes? And why did the killer leave her alive?
Answers to questions Joshua should be investigating. Instead, he finds himself drawn to another question entirely: Why do Sloane’s cheeks heat up when he leans in close and proposes to make her fictional relationship a friend-with-benefits one?
