The second part focuses on Christ’s Passion, beginning in Pilate’s palace and continuing through Chapels 23 to 41, which depict the trial, scourging, crucifixion, and entombment. These scenes combine religious devotion with striking artistic realism, offering both spiritual impact and visual power. Butler particularly highlights Tabachetti’s emotional sculptural style and also discusses his later work at Crea. The following chapters cover the Pietà, the Entombment, the remaining chapels, and the central church, presenting the Sacro Monte’s overall completion. In conclusion, Butler reaffirms the site’s significance as a fusion of faith and art, supplementing his account with photographs and footnotes to encourage further study.

Müəllif haqqında
Samuel Butler was a 19th-century English novelist and essayist, best known for his sharp critiques of the hypocrisy within Victorian religion and morality. He spent part of his youth managing a sheep farm in New Zealand, an experience that later shaped his literary imagination. His notable work Erewhon uses satire and paradox to question social institutions and human nature, while writings like The Way of All Flesh critically examined the Bible and Christian faith. Though controversial during his time, his works have since been recognized for their modern insights. Butler persistently explored the contradictions of human existence and civilization, leaving behind a distinctive literary voice.
