About this ebook

Saving humanity and ending it look like the same decision.

Hayden Kaine and the crew of the Scimitar have spent the past year hunting scattered pieces of the cynosure — an ancient device that opens a portal to another star system. With a Malliac fleet of ninety thousand ships six weeks from Earth's orbit, it is humanity's last hope.

Then they open it — and realise the translation was wrong.

The cynosure isn't a weapon against the Malliac. It's a trap. And the protective bubble shielding their universe is collapsing because of an unauthorised signal Kaine himself fired.

The only plan left: keep the portal open and use Stella as living bait. The empath Kaine loves broadcasts emotions the Malliac crave like a drug. Lure the fleet into the rift — knowing the Scimitar will almost certainly not survive.

"Human monkeys only had to put the puzzle together and turn the thing on."

Meanwhile, a deposed president is seizing the project to return to power. Kaine will end this book a fugitive — again — having traded one catastrophe for another.

There are no good options. He still has to choose.

What you will find inside:

Fast-moving military space opera, no filler

A portal that was mistranslated — a weapon that is actually a trap

Ninety thousand enemy ships, six weeks from Earth

A love story used as bait, with no rescue plan

Knowledge that traps instead of empowering

Every book resolves — no cliffhangers

For Dune readers who know power and knowledge trap the people who hold them.

Following Hayden Kaine and the crew of the Scimitar, Kaine's Reparation is part three of this series. And I'm happy to say, it's an absolutely excellent read. Thrilling in all the right places, twists, turns, action and more. As I've come to expect from the author, the writing is great and the characters are fantastic and well developed. If you love thrilling space opera with great characters, then this is the series for you! I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was provided a copy of the book by the author. What follows in an honest review. I have read other books in the D. M. Pruden library. I had not read the previous ones in this series. While there are some holes in my reading of the book, they are filled in interestingly by the author for what I need to know. Kaine, in a previous story, had a choice to let an evil hoard of aliens attack or destroy the jump gates holding society together. In this book, he deals with the aftermath of his decision. While they have slowed the horde down, they have not stopped it, and it is slowly inching it's way across the galaxy and to earth as we know it. There is word of an alien weapon that could stop this advance, but the crew of the ship Scimitar must find a way to find the parts needed and join them with the parts on earth to put the weapon together back. Is the weapon going to doom them, or is it going to help them. The situation on earth is chaos. Political government of earth is in a shambles. One side wants to put the weapon together and the other side has it. I enjoyed the book. It held my interest well. There were enough places where what I thought would happen logically next, did not, but it was not out of the 'pull a rabbit out of a hat' type of thing. I recommend to all who like a good science fiction story. Nothing to hide from the kids in this one.
