About this audiobook

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
In a small Cornish fishing village, two young men have been inseparable since boyhood. One is fair, open and steady; the other is dark, silent and proud. Both love the same girl, and she cannot choose between them.

So they settle it the only way they can imagine: they toss a coin on the quay, and the loser agrees to sail away for a year to make his fortune, leaving the field clear. The winner swears to deal honestly with him when he returns. Then a letter goes astray, a wedding is arranged in the loser’s absence, and on the morning the banns are read, a ship is wrecked on the rocks outside the harbour.

Published in 1914 in Dracula’s Guest and Other Weird Stories, The Coming of Abel Behenna is one of Bram Stoker’s most powerful short stories: a grim tale of jealousy, broken oaths and the sea’s refusal to keep a secret, from the author of Dracula.
