Jersey

JERSEY follows Massay Jacobs, an eighteen-year-old high school senior who has a passion for horror films and filmmaking. Fascinated by the legend of the Jersey Devil, he becomes determined to discover whether the creature is real. His investigation takes him beyond the stories he has heard and into a disturbing series of events that gradually connects his life to the mythology surrounding the Jersey Devil.

At the center of the mystery are Massay's family and two women with connections to the legend: Jenny, Massay's mother, and Dorothy Leeds, a mysterious woman whose connection to the Jersey Devil reaches deep into the past. As Massay continues searching for answers, his obsession with horror collides with events that can't be easily explained.

The Jersey Devil has remained one of New Jersey's most enduring pieces of folklore. JERSEY uses that legend as the foundation for a modern horror story while placing its characters firmly in the world of modern-day teenagers, FBI agents, filmmaking, friendships, and family conflicts. The novel's protagonists are not traditional investigators. They are young people who love horror movies and understand the conventions of the genre. Their fascination with fictional monsters becomes increasingly complicated when they begin encountering circumstances that suggest the Jersey Devil may not be fictional after all.
