About this app

Researchers at Monash University have developed a diet and corresponding app to assist in management of the gastrointestinal symptoms associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The Monash University Low FODMAP diet works by restricting foods high in some carbohydrates called FODMAPs.

The app comes directly from the research team at Monash and includes the following:

- General information about the FODMAP diet and IBS.
- Easy to understand tutorials to guide you through the app and the 3-Step FODMAP diet.
- A Food Guide detailing the FODMAP content for hundreds of foods using a simple 'traffic light system'.
- A list of branded products that have been certified by Monash as low FODMAP.
- A collection of over 70 nutritious, low FODMAP recipes.
- Functions that allow you to create your own shopping list and add notes to individual foods
- A Diary that enables you to record food eaten, IBS symptoms, bowel habits and stress levels. The Diary will also guide you through step 2 of the diet - FODMAP reintroduction.
- The ability to adjust units of measurement (metric or imperial) and activate colour blindness assistance.
Your pocket guide to following The Monash University Low FODMAP diet.

App seems great for tracking symptoms and eliminating foods. Still in elimination phase. I've come across some issues, as other reviews mention: "Running repeated searches in the food guide requires you to close and open the search function for each new query" still true; I wish when you sorted by county it would show only the countries foods and meals, however you have to search for a specific ingredients for the filter to apply. Otherwise, will see how it goes after the elimination phase 👍

Hi Aleksandra, thanks for the feedback! The country filter should work in all the general categories, other than the certified food and meal categories. If this is not working for you, please reach out to us at enquiry@monashfodmap.com with screenshots so we can see what might be going wrong!

Frustrating. Bought the app mainly for the food guide, but filtering by sensitivity doesn't work. Running repeated searches in the food guide requires you to close and open the search function for each new query. The traffic light system seems great, but is no good if the suggested serving sizes are unrealistic...which they often are; baked beans list 16g, 18g, or 315g for example.

Hi Tam, thanks for your review. We'd love to hear more about the filtering issue you are experiencing if you'd be happy to email us at enquiry@monashfodmap.com. The serve sizes reflect the FODMAP content of the foods, so unfortunately, sometimes only a very small serving size is available for a low FODMAP quantity.

It is a bit confusing to use the food information portion of the app. What is strange to me is some recipes on their website are not in the app. I like that you can track multiple things with the app like bowel movements, feelings, foods, and some other items. It would be helpful to have a 'build your plate" option in the future where you can add different food items and see if the meal you are making yourself is still considered low FODMAP.
