About this app

Jeomjip (점집) is a Korean fortune house on your phone. You arrive at a gate at night, a lantern lit, a window glowing. Tap, and Bosal-nim is waiting at her table with the cards.

THE DECK
The full 1909 Waite-Smith deck, all 78 cards, from first-printing scans. The drawings carry the meanings, so you see the whole card, large, on paper the colour of the old stock. Cards turn like real cards.

TODAY
One card for the day, face down on the cloth. Turn it, read Bosal-nim's paragraph, write your own note. The same card waits if you come back. Under it, the day's luck in the old Korean way: a colour to wear, a direction to face, a number to keep in mind, a good hour, and whether the spirits are abroad.

READINGS
A single card for any question, or six spreads: Hanok, Bosal-nim's own, eight rooms around an open courtyard with your four pillars at the posts and the four elements at the walls; and Three Card, Five Card Cross, Horseshoe, Relationship and Celtic Cross. Ask your question, knock three times on the deck, and the cards deal face down into the spread. Turn them one by one. Then Bosal-nim reads: every card in its position, the turn of the reading, and her closing advice. Keep it in your journal or let it go.

FIVE LENSES
Every card read five ways: love, career, money, growth and health, laid out as a star in the five colours of obangsaek. Read a whole spread through one lens when your question is about one thing.

SAJU
Tell Bosal-nim your birth date, hour and place and she draws your four pillars: your Day Master, your animal, the balance of the five elements. From then on she reads with your chart in mind, and Today tells you which lens the day favours for you.

DREAMS
A dream book of one hundred and twenty dreams in the old Korean readings. Find last night's dream and keep it with today's card.

THE ROOM
By night the room is lit by candles. By day the sun comes through the paper. Choose either, or let the phone decide. On a tablet or a foldable the house fills the screen in either direction.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no analytics, no network. The app has no internet permission at all. Your readings, your birth and your notes never leave the phone.
