About this game

Faboo is a Montessori-inspired, painted storybook world where children aged 2 to 7 make their own stories. They choose a place and the characters, the stage comes alive, and the curtain opens on their own show. At bedtime, they listen to a little cassette tape or open a pop-up book with Pip the red panda.

Montessori-inspired means your child leads, makes real choices and plays at their own pace. It is pretend play for toddlers, preschoolers and young children, with no scores, no points and no streaks.

Make a story
• Pick a place: a castle courtyard, a tower, a garden, a pirate ship, a beach and more.
• Choose who is in it: the Knight, the Dragon, the Queen, the Captain, the Parrot, and the heroes your child has made.
• Add a dragon egg, a cake, a treasure map or a rain cloud.
• Tap a character to choose what they do: laugh, dance, hug, get scared or go to sleep.
• Put the scenes in a row, then raise the curtain. The story plays like a little film, with music, and the cast takes a bow.

Make a hero
• Pick one of eight painted heroes and dress them up: a crown, a cape, fairy wings or a pirate hat.
• Give your hero a name with a picture sticker, or say the name out loud.
• Your hero moves into Pip's home and can join every story.

Bedtime tapes: Patch by Patch
• Pompon is a cuddly toy who has been mended many times. Each tape tells the story of one patch.
• Put the tape in the player, press Play, and listen while painted pictures follow the story.
• Each tape has two endings. By day, it ends with a wiggle dance. At night, it slows down and Pompon is tucked in.
• Side B is for grown-ups: a short note about the story, ideas to try tonight, and each sound from the story to play on its own.
• Two tapes to start: The Round Sea and The Little Drum.

Pop-up books for bedtime
• Eight pop-up picture books in cut-paper styles.
• Tap the windows to light them, pull a tab to raise the moon, lift a roof to find the Cat.
• Each book is read aloud with soft music and ends with goodnight.

Pip's radio show
• Your child goes on air in Pip's little studio. Pip asks a question with a picture, and your child answers.
• Then the show plays back, with a jingle and applause, and your child hears their own voice.
• Or your child can be the reporter and interview a grown-up, a brother or sister, or a favorite toy.
• Every show is kept as a tape on the studio shelf.

Pip's home
• Pip lives in a cozy painted home that changes from day to night.
• Its doors lead to the stage, the wardrobe, the music window and the tape player. The toy box holds the pop-up books, the radio studio, drawing, blocks and a busy board.

For grown-ups
• Settings, Side B and recordings sit behind a grown-up gate.
• Up to four children can each have their own space.
• The microphone stays off until a grown-up turns recording on. What your child records stays on this device. Faboo never uploads it.
• No ads and nothing to buy.

What’s new

Faboo now speaks French. The stories, bedtime tapes, pop-up books and Pip's radio all have French voices. A phone set to French opens Faboo in French, and you can pick the language under For grown-ups.
