Vintage 1914 puts a 1914 pocket watch on your Wear OS watch, built for the Samsung Galaxy Watch. This face is taken from a 1914 pocket watch made in northern Illinois: its enamel dial, the railroad minute track with red minute numbers from 5 to 60, the small seconds at 6 and the blued spade hands.
Its numerals are not a font. Every hour figure, red minute number and seconds digit was lifted from that watch's own enamel dial, so they are unique to this 1914 model. The hands were traced from the same watch, in its heat-blued steel turning on a polished silver collet, and the seconds hand beats five times a second, as its movement does. This winter it comes in the season’s colours too, from luminous blue to deep plum.
Settings, on the watch (hold the face, tap Customize):
• Dial: sixteen enamels, each with its own hands. White and Ivory, as the watch left the factory and a century on, with blued steel hands. This season’s colours: Luminous blue, Deep green, Russet, Soft lilac, Waxed corn, Smoked bordeaux, Deep plum, Seaweed green (radium numerals and hands, like a 1914–18 trench watch), Mineral grey, Warm taupe, Patinated ochre and Anthracite, with gilt hands on the dark enamels and blued ones on the light. And Radium, the black night dial of the luminous trench watches, and Salmon, a collectors’ favourite.
• Gauge 1 and Gauge 2: two small dials up top, printed like the seconds dial, each Off or one of ten readings: Steps (0 to 10,000), Step goal, Heart rate, Temperature (in °C or °F, as your watch’s weather), Rain (read like a barometer: Rain, Change, Fair), Battery (a railroad watch’s Down and Up), Date, Day of week, Moon phase and Home time. With one gauge on, it sits larger in the middle; with both on, they sit either side of the 12. Both start Off, so the face opens as the plain 1914 dial.
• Home city: the city Home time shows, from 72 cities around the world (Chicago to start).
In always-on mode the gauges rest and the dial turns black with soft grey numerals and hands, lighting under 8% of the screen.
Vintage 1914 is built in the Watch Face Format: no phone app, no account, no network access, and no data collected. Steps and heart rate are read on the watch for the gauges and never leave it.
Requires Wear OS 6 or later. Tested on the Galaxy Watch 7. One-off purchase, no subscription.
