About this app

iShredder™ – secure data eraser & file shredder for Android
Protect your personal and work data before selling, trading in, repairing, recycling or handing over your mobile. iShredder securely overwrites photos, files, folders and empty space, making later recovery extremely difficult even with recovery apps or forensic tools. Certified wipe methods and erasure reports support private users, businesses and IT teams during secure device handover.

WHY NORMAL DELETE ISN’T ENOUGH
Deleting a file on Android often removes only its reference. The storage area it previously occupied is not always overwritten immediately and may, depending on the device, Android version and storage technology, still contain residual data. iShredder targets selected content and empty space for overwriting instead of simply removing files from view.

CERTIFIED, MILITARY-GRADE ERASURE
iShredder supports recognised methods such as DoD 5220.22-M, NIST SP 800-88, BSI TL-03423 and other international standards. Choose a quick one-pass wipe for everyday tasks or a stricter multi-pass process for particularly sensitive information.

The Android app has been independently assessed and awarded DEKRA MASA L1 security certification under OWASP MASVS Level 1 requirements. iShredder also received the Fortress Cybersecurity Award 2025 for its data-erasure technology and app security.

WHAT YOU CAN WIPE
• Photos, videos and personal media
• Documents, downloads, files and complete folders
• App traces, hidden caches, logs, temporary files and thumbnails
• Empty space in internal storage and supported SD cards
• Work data on corporate, BYOD and shared devices

KEY FEATURES
• Selective secure erase
Choose exactly which files, folders or storage areas should be overwritten.

• Multiple certified algorithms
Match wipe speed and depth to the sensitivity of your information.

• Built-in file explorer
Locate private content and select it directly for secure shredding.

• Erasure reports
Create a record for device handover, audits, internal policies and privacy workflows.

• BYOD & user changes
Remove work data before return, repair, reassignment, resale or employee offboarding.

COMMON USE CASES
• Wipe an Android mobile before sale, trade-in, buy-back or recycling
• Remove private photos, documents and downloads before repair
• Reduce remnants after uninstalling apps by wiping empty space
• Clean corporate and BYOD devices during device or staff changes
• Document repeatable disposal and handover procedures with reports

HOW THE WIPE WORKS
1. Select files, folders, app traces, empty space or a storage area.
2. Choose the erasure algorithm suited to your security needs.
3. Start the wipe — iShredder overwrites the selected areas and, where available, generates an erasure report.

FOR BUSINESS, IT & PRIVACY OPERATIONS
Certified methods and reports help organisations manage device rotation, returns, reuse, onboarding/offboarding and internal security procedures. They can also support documented privacy and data-disposal workflows when combined with your organisation’s compliance requirements.

BEST-PRACTICE TIP
After deleting many photos or files, or after uninstalling apps, run an empty-space wipe. This helps reduce residual blocks that recovery tools may scan. Check the selected content carefully and back up anything you need to keep before starting.

PRIVACY & SECURITY BY DESIGN
Connections to Protectstar services use modern TLS encryption. The app avoids unnecessary data collection and, as stated in Google Play’s Data Safety section, does not share user data with third parties.

Note: Features, algorithms and reports can vary by device, Android version and iShredder edition.

With iShredder, “deleted” really means securely erased.
Protect your data: wipe photos, files & empty space before selling your mobile.

Great app. I have the Military Edition which works efficiently. But at times it reverts back to the Free edition. I have to replace my account and password to gain the Military Edition. Still a good shredder.

Seems to work OK sometimes. However. when doing some wipes it will get stuck at say 2% for a minute, then jump to 100% for that pass. Makes me wonder if it did it's job. Using it to clear an old phone prior to disposal, so will be testing for photo recovery shortly after to see if it really works for not and will report back. Update : app fails to delete all photos. about 7 were recoverable, despite being only stored in the normal album and nowhere else.

This works well, but there are more negatives than positives. I love 25 different ways to shred your files! Unfortunately only 5 are free, the rest u have to pay. Oftentimes u don't know which is which until u click on it and it tells u "upgrade required" to use that feature. Always choose FILE EXPLORER to pick files to shred, then go to INTERNAL STORAGE or SD CARD, then PICTURES (or whatever), & pick the ones starting w/ "trashed" in the name. Those are your deleted files. Too complicated!
